About the Standards & Guidelines
Design Standards and Guidelines are used by Landmark Preservation staff and the Landmark Preservation Commission to evaluate exterior building projects for within the boundaries of the Five Points Historic Cultural District.
The district’s custom Standards and Guidelines will establish design review Standards and Guidelines that are similar to the city-wide guidelines, which apply to historic landmarks and districts across the city, but that specifically address Five Points’ unique needs.
The new Standards and Guidelines outline a “how to” approach and provide illustrated easy-to-follow, Standards and Guidelines so that property owners and design professionals can more easily navigate through the design review and permitting process. The Standards and Guidelines are slated to go into effect on August 1, 2016.
The Landmark Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on the draft during its regularly-scheduled meeting on July 19 at 1 p.m. in room 4.F.6 at the Wellington Webb Municipal Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave.
For Property Owners and Stakeholders
Over the course of 3 years, property owners and other stakeholders have shared their input on what they’d like to see in the custom design Standards and Guidelines in person, at neighborhood meetings, in working groups, at LPC meetings, and CPD hosted two community workshops in the Five Points neighborhood.
