“Denver, ColoradoKCNC)-The MLB All-Star Game shows some of the best players in the game, but the artist has guaranteed that the baseball legend will be respected long after nine innings. A stunning mural celebrating the black pioneers of American entertainment was unveiled Tuesday in the Five Points district of Denver.
Dallas-based artist Jeremy Biggers used paint to bring back three legends: Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron in just four days.
“I want people to be proud of their neighborhood and the history of Five Points. I want people to see these heritage on their own,” Biggers said.
Bigger’s work was recently featured at the Black Love Mural Festival in Denver. The festival’s founder and art curator, Robert Gray, later contacted him about the MLB mural opportunity.
Bigger didn’t hesitate to say “yes”.
“I wanted to make sure this was absolutely correct,” Biggers said. “I have never had such an experience. The loved one of the person I draw sees it. It’s not direct anyway.”
Hank Aaron’s family attended the mural unveiling ceremony.
Aaron finished his career with 755 home runs, more than any other player in baseball history when he retired. Barry Bonds broke the record in 2007 with 762 home runs.
Aaron died earlier this year at the age of 86.
“I have no words,” said Chech Aaron. “It’s difficult because it’s still so raw to me. This mural really surrounds him. It looks like him, but it doesn’t just capture his face. You’re his You can see the soul and his heart. He had a very good heart. “”
